OK WAIT turn instrumental heavy music into a personal storytelling device.
The Hamburg trio is currently working on their third album and is playing live shows.
We are part of an antiracist, antifascist, feminist and emancipatory music scene. We reflect on our role within leftist and dignity-centered contexts and seek solidarity and exchange with marginalized perspectives.
OK WAIT, a Hamburg-based trio, is an experimental, heavy instrumental rock band that creates a unique blend of music that defies genre boundaries. The ensemble forges emotional, wordless stories that prove to capture an audience.
With their highly acclaimed second album SIGNAL (released 30 June 2023 on renowned Golden Antenna Records), the band takes their compositions and sound to new heights, incorporating tastes of noise rock, shoegaze, post rock, doom and black metal to create an intense and emotional listening experience. Their high standards were translated to selected production personnel: recording took place at Die Mühle, helmed by Peter Voigtmann (The Ocean, SHRVL, Death By Gong, Heads.), with a mix done by Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Sumac, Thrice), and a master by Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna, Russian Circles). Its literal resonance was documented by vastly favorable reviews.
Their previous debut album WELL marked both an end of a chapter and a beginning of new era for the band. Originally founded as the four-piece band Sonic Black Holes in 2017, and after changes in the group’s lineup, they recorded and produced their first full-length during the daunting times of 2020 and ’21. The album got picked up by Golden Antenna Records and was released to great public acclaim on 1 April 2022. Shortly after, the band became a trio and began moving into a more focused and experimental musical direction without losing sight of their genre-bending understanding of instrumental rock.
As of mid-2024, one year after the release of SIGNAL, both albums’ first vinyl editions are sold-out. SIGNAL was reissued by Moment Of Collapse for a second pressing.
For fans of DEAFHEAVEN, ISIS, RUSSIAN CIRCLES and SWANS, OK WAIT is a band to watch. Their latest album is a tour de force of instrumental music that showcases their talent, creativity, and passion. The powerhouse trio is sure to make waves in the music world and establish OK WAIT as one of the most exciting and innovative instrumental heavy bands today.

30 June 2023 – Golden Antenna Records (golden057)
With their latest album SIGNAL the band takes their sound to new heights, incorporating tastes of noise rock, shoegaze, post rock, doom and black metal to create an intense and emotional listening experience. Released 30 June 2023 on Golden Antenna Records, the album should become the final transmission sent out by the now defunct label. SIGNAL is a departure from traditional post rock, with the band experimenting with a raw and abrasive sound that is both beautiful and terrifying. With the help of acclaimed producer Peter Voigtmann (THE OCEAN, SHRVL, DEATH BY GONG, ZAHN, Ex-HEADS.), mixing by Scott Evans (KOWLOON WALLED CITY, SUMAC, THRICE) and mastering by Magnus Lindberg (CULT OF LUNA, RUSSIAN CIRCLES), the album‘s sound is expertly crafted and expertly executed. The album features nine diverse tracks that showcase the band‘s dynamic range and versatility. Each song is a journey in itself, with complex arrangements and intricate melodies that keep the listener engaged from start to finish. The band‘s commitment to pushing the boundaries of instrumental music is evident in every note, and SIGNAL is a testament to their dedication to creating something truly unique.
